The announcements of the 2026 Irish Aberdeen Angus All-Ireland herds competition took place at the Extravaganza weekend in early October. This year’s competition again seen small, medium and large herd winners in each of the four regional clubs fight it out for the title of All-Ireland champion herd.
The small section this year was judged by Mr James Morrison and Sam Matchett from Northern Ireland. They visited the herds of Charlie McClafferty of McClafferty Angus in Donegal, the Rathmooney herd of Gabriel Hoey in Dublin, the Killea herd of Henry and Sam Dudley in Tipperary and the Ashburn herd of David Bryne in Co Kildare.
They awarded the title of All-Ireland champion small herd to the Rathmooney herd making it two in a row for the Dublin herd.
The medium section was judged by Stephen Wallace of the Baronagh herd in Northern Ireland.
He visited the herds of Liam and James Muldowney of Rabawn Angus in Co Mayo, the Killucan herd of John Kilmartin in Westmeath, the Clontead herd of Eustace and Deirdre Burke in Cork and the Clonagh herd of Garrett Behan in Co Laois.
He awarded the title of All-Ireland champion medium herd to the Clontead herd..
In the large section tasked with judging was Richie Lombard of the Dulague herd. The finalists in this section were John and Ann McDermotts Masreagh herd in Sligo, the Liss herd of John and Sean McEnroe in Co Meath, the Goulding herd Matthew and Rita Goulding in Kerry and the Foundry herd of Ann and Michael Murphy in Wexford.
He awarded the title of All-Ireland champion large herd to the Foundry herd which marks their first overall win.
We congratulate all participating herds for another hugely successful competition.
