The Irish Aberdeen Angus Association is delighted to announce that entries are now being taken for this year’s National calf show.
The event will again return to Mid-Tipp mart in Thurles and takes place on October 6th as part of the Autumn Extravaganza.
This event will see 11 classes and five championships with entries open to all pedigree Angus in southern Ireland.
First prize winner in each of the 11 classes walks away with €200, followed by €100 for 2nd and €50 for 3rd.
First and second prize-winners from each of the respective classes will then fight it out for the senior male, senior female, junior male and junior female championships. Champion in each of these four championships will secure another €200 with the reserve taking home €100.
Finally, the crème la de crème will fight it out in the Angus Beef Ireland supreme National calf show championship. Winner here will take home an additional €600 with reserve securing €300.
This means the supreme champion will have accumulated €1,000 in prize money!
The previous day to the calf show will be the Associations premier sale, with all sale cattle born after 1st January 2023 automatically entered into the calf show the following day. This means that even if you don’t have Aberdeen Angus cattle, you can buy one at the venue and recoup some of your investment in a matter of hours!
