October 6th 2009 - German praise for Irish Aberdeen-Angus calves

This weekend saw a fantastic entry of young Aberdeen-Angus cattle forward for the Irish National Show held at Mountrath Livestock Mart, Co Laois. And stepping up to the challenge of judging the 84 cattle on offer was German breeder Johnannes Hibbeln from Kleinenberg.

Commenting on his task, Mr Hibbeln said he was incredibly impressed with the standard on offer and that German breeders would be more than happy with the choice of either large framed growth Aberdeen-angus cattle or the smaller, beefier types that were also on offer. “I was pleased with the correctness of these calves, commenting that longevity of an animal was key to economic growth of farming in Germany.”

Taking home the male championship having won the second class of young bulls was Dr Michael and Martin Sheahan, Kilmallock, Co Limerick, with the September 2008-born Luddenmore Raven Eric. By Dalrene Cruz 11F, he is out of Aynho Roasa Erica D231, a daughter of Belvin Kincaid 27’00.
